Preserve the Turtles Environment – Take Care!
Good morning everyone!
So far, we have had 4 or 5 turtles lay their eggs @Cabañas!
We reported it to Semarnat, and they come and place protection around them, to note the date and thus keep track on when the babies will hatch!
I’m sure many more will come in the summer, so any guest could be lucky and experience both the mama turtle laying eggs or the babies getting to the ocean.
It is very, very, very important that if you see a mama turtle, you don’t get near her as she might get scared and go back into the ocean.
And it takes them forever to move! If you get to experience the hatching of eggs, we kindly ask you to turn out the lights in your room/balcony as the little ones are guided to the ocean by the moonlight.
If the lights are on, they go in the wrong direction.
During these months, if you are a guest at Cabañas, our staff will give you a little info at check in, like who to contact in case you see a big mama, or what to do if you see the babies.
You can help us protect these beautiful animals!
They need all the help they can get – they are so big but so weak as babies – only 1 out of 1000 turtles makes it to the ocean, and then they still have to survive in there!!!
Thank you!!!!!!!!
